The 2024 Buick Enclave

As Buick’s flagship model, the 2024 Buick Enclave seeks to redefine what it means to be comfortable and luxurious. The 2024 Buick Encore GX

Buick has been busy adding to the popular Encore GX lineup. The Encore, now out of commission, started its run in 2013, but the Encore GX has only been in production since the 2022 model year. It has many additional features and offers a lot of cabin and cargo space, 50.2 cu.ft. to be exact. 2023 didn’t see any real significant changes, but the 2024 lineup is adding a few things.

The first-ever Avenir trim debuts for the Encore GX lineup and represents the height of luxury expression in a Buick. There is also an all-new 11-inch diagonal ultrawide infotainment display system that offers crisp graphic readouts. The front end also sees some revisions, bringing it up to date with slender checkmark-style LED headlights and a revised front grille. The result is a more aggressive aesthetic. Inside, you get treated to standard cloth with leatherette on the seating surfaces, plus there are new interior accents to dazzle your eyes.

Introducing the 2024 Buick Envista

The biggest splash that Buick is making for the 2024 model year is, without a doubt, the introduction of the 2024 Buick Envista. This vehicle slides between the subcompact Encore GX and the bigger Envision, effectively replacing the standard GX. This small-ish SUV is still easy to maneuver but gives plenty of interior space.

Powered by a 1.2L turbocharged 3-cylinder engine that turns out 136 hp and 162 lb-ft of torque. A previous generation of this engine has been offered on other Buick models, but this new one utilizes fewer parts, making it lighter and better able to deliver good fuel economy and handle better. Front-wheel drive (FWD) is standard, and a 6-speed automatic transmission comes equipped. EPA estimates state that the Envista should get 30 MPG in combined driving, which is respectable for this segment.

The Envista’s turbo engine performs strong off the line, and while there is no Sport mode, you can have a good time driving around town. The ride quality feels compliant even as you traverse uneven and rugged pavement. This vehicle tracks straight when you take it out on the highway, and the cabin feels comfortable overall. The Envista packs in just enough creature comforts for the price. The vehicle’s front seats are cushioned well with ample padding for spinal and thigh support. You can opt for heated front seats if you’d like that extra touch of luxury.

The Envista has a lot of space for all its occupants, with those sitting in the front seats getting treated to two sizable digital displays housed beneath a single glass panel, looking futuristic and cool. The digital instrument panel is an impressive 8 inches, while the infotainment system’s screen comes in at 11 inches. The Preferred, ST, and luxurious Avenir have their own unique combinations of interior trim and chic upholstery options to choose from.

Looks-wise, the cabin’s materials are in line with what comes on the Encore GX. The flat-bottom steering wheel isn’t extremely flat but looks sporty and has many of the same touchpoints with the same premium feel. Some hard plastics are predominantly focused on the center console, but this is on par with vehicles in this price range. The rear seats give ample legroom, so much so that even someone over 6 feet tall can comfortably sit behind someone of the same height. The sloping roofline doesn’t even detract from the head space in the back. You can fold the 60/40-split folding rear seats down to increase cargo capacity from 20.7 cu.ft. to 42 cu.ft., a respectable showing for this class.

Buick sets the Envista up with a slew of standard infotainment features. The infotainment system offers crisp, clear graphics on menus that are easy to navigate. The climate control system’s settings are divided into a decent number of virtual and physical buttons. The digital ones are easy to access, and smartphone app integration is standard across the lineup. You get peace of mind from the numerous driver assistance features that come standard on the Envista, courtesy of the Buick Driver Confidence suite, that gives you tools like Automatic Emergency Braking and a Following Distance Indicator.
