Used Chevy Silverado for Sale

The Chevy Silverado has been one of the best-selling vehicles in America in recent years, and at Dan Cummins Chevrolet Buick of Georgetown, we welcome tons of shoppers each week in search of a used Chevy Silverado for sale. As a part of the Chevy family since 1999, the Silverado has proven itself as a reliable, tough and high-quality pickup for decades. It is available in the light-duty Silverado 1500 and the heavy-duty 2500 and 3500 variants, offering something for contractors, DIYers, and professionals of every grade.

We see a lot of shoppers who aren’t sure what sets the 1500 apart from the 2500 or the 2500 apart from the 3500. Because a truck is a major investment, we want to make sure that you put your dollars into the right model for your specific needs. So below, we’ll go over the Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 to give you a better understanding of these three terrific trucks. Plus, we’ll tell you about the benefits of working with Dan Cummins.

A Look at the Silverado 1500

The Chevy Silverado 1500 is a light-duty pickup that could serve as a work truck or an everyday vehicle. The GMC Sierra 1500 and the Ford F-150 are common competitors for the Silverado 1500. It's easy-to-handle dimensions make it completely appropriate for a daily driver, as you won’t find it too cumbersome to get into parking spots, navigate congested streets, or back out of driveways.

The Silverado 1500 is also a good starter truck for someone who is new to pickups. Its lighter frame makes the Silverado unintimidating to drive. Its construction and engine options also give the Silverado solid fuel economy for daily driving. If you need the capabilities of a pickup but want excellent maneuverability, the Silverado 1500 would be your best option for the three Silverados.

The Silverado 1500 has impressive trailering capability, so it can handle dragging some lightweight equipment across job sites or a modestly sized boat or camper to a campsite. Available in three bed sizes of short, standard and long, as well as three cab sizes of regular, crew and double cab, the Silverado 1500 is the most customizable option in the Silverado family. You can build yours to prioritize passenger capacity, bed capacity, or a blend of the two.

You’ll generally find a good range of engines available for a Silverado 1500, speaking again to its versatile nature. Over the years, Silverado 1500s have typically come with four-cylinders, V6s, and V8s, so there’s an engine for just about every driving style and power need. Available in rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations, the Silverado 1500 can handle paved and unpaved roads with ease. Overall, it’s a terrific vehicle for a contractor who passes most of the heavier work off to employees, a commuter, or a parent.

A Look at the Silverado 2500 and 3500

As you get into the heavy-duty variants, the 2500 and the 3500, you’re looking at trucks designed to appeal to professionals in industries like construction and agriculture. The 2500 and 3500 are often discussed in the same breath because they share the same powertrains (usually large, powerful V8s or diesel engines). Their top competitors include the Ford F-250, Ford F-350, the GMC Sierra 2500 HD, and the GMC Sierra 3500 HD.

The Silverado 2500 and 3500 also have the same bed and cab options, which are the standard and long bed and the regular, double, and crew cab. You’ll notice there is no short bed available for the HD trucks, which is a nod to the workhorse nature of these options. If someone is shopping for a Silverado HD, they almost certainly need to max out its payload capacities, which means needing a larger bed.

So, what sets these two powerful trucks apart? Capabilities. Both models offer a broad range of heavy-duty capabilities for whatever challenges you have on the job site, at home, and beyond. So consider the weight of the equipment you’ll need to regularly haul for your work when choosing between the 2500 and 3500. Being slightly heavier than the 3500, the 2500 could be a good choice for someone who mostly uses their pickup for job sites but needs to do some driving around town. The hefty 3500 is strictly a workhorse and is ready for serious jobs.
