Now that we’ve come to the topic of trim levels, we should start by saying this. The 2020 Buick Encore GX has a base model, but it is anything but basic. Every trim comes standard with some incredible features that you won’t find on other competing vehicles. Let’s take a closer look!
The Encore GX Preferred
The base trim is known as the Preferred model. It starts things off with some basic comfort features like air conditioning, 60/40 split-folding back seats, a fold-flat front passenger seat, and keyless ignition/entry. Your comfort and convenience are always top priorities with Buick. Standard safety features include automatic emergency braking and cruise control. When an obstacle is detected, and no action is taken on the driver’s part to avoid hitting that obstacle, the emergency braking system will be triggered. It will immediately stop the vehicle to avoid a fender bender. Meanwhile, you can relax for a while whenever you set the cruise control option. This system will maintain your desired speed to give your foot a rest. It’s ideal for long road trips and long commutes.
As for the infotainment interface, it is displayed on an 8-inch touchscreen and operates with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. Most competitors do not offer smartphone integration on the base models. However, the engineers at Buick understand the importance of staying connected everywhere you go. That is also why a 4G LTE Wifi hotspot is included. Finally, OnStar telematics provides emergency and vehicle locator services, and dual USB ports allow you to charge more than one smart device at the same time.
If all of those features weren’t enough to satisfy you, then you will be happy to know about all of the extra packages you can add to the new 2020 Buick Encore GX. The base Preferred model can be equipped with the Cold Weather Package. This adds heated seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, and remote start technology. The Safety Package can also be added to this trim. It includes rear parking sensors, blindspot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Finally, the last package for the Preferred trim is the Sport Touring Package. It comes with roof rails, remote start technology, and a more athletically-style exterior.
The Encore GX Select
The mid-level Select trim adds quite a few new tech features into the mix. Remote start technology has been added as well as dual-zone climate control. The heated front seats are power-adjustable, and new safety systems have been put in place. These include blindspot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change alert. You won’t have to worry about side-swiping or backing into another vehicle ever again.
The mid-level Select trim can be equipped with the Advanced Technology Package. This adds rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, a head-up display, a 360° parking camera system, and a navigation system. You may also choose to add the Experience Package, which comes with a navigation system, an HD rearview camera, and a sunroof.
The Encore Essence
Finally, the premium Essence trim level is the cream of the crop. This elegant model comes with a heated steering wheel that has been wrapped in leather. The cabin has also been draped in full leather upholstery, and an air ionizer keeps the interior fresh. Another added feature is an extra 120-volt outlet that has been placed inside the rear center console.
Lastly, the top-of-the-line Essence trim can be fitted with any of the aforementioned packages. Other stand-alone options include a hands-free liftgate and a wireless charging pad. You won’t have to set your groceries on the ground to open the back of the vehicle, and you can keep the cabin clear of cables while charging your smartphone.
