  • Performance

A black 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 is towing a white trailer past a field.

The 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 HD offers a lot more utility than standard trucks, which means better towing capacities and the ability to fit more in the bed. However, the Silverado 2500 HD is more than just a work truck as it also offers the features that make driving easier, convenient, and safer.

    Powerful Engines

The base 6.6-liter gasoline engine with a six-speed automatic transmission offers 401 hp and can tow up to 17,370 lbs. The engine is powerful enough that pulling a full load from a dead stop is absolutely no problem. Just as impressive, if not more so, is the legendary Duramax 6.6-liter Turbo-Diesel at 445 hp and 910 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, the 2021 Silverado 2500 HD is rated to pull up to 18,510 lbs. If you are looking for an exceptional engine with towing power, the Duramax will get the job done. Whether you choose the gas-driven V8 or the Duramax diesel engine, the Chevy Silverado is a full-size pickup truck capable of pulling off the big jobs.

    Towing Tech

With the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD series, Chevy has set the towing bar quite high with the addition of modern towing technology developed to make towing easier and safer. This includes the best-in-class available 15 unique camera views from eight cameras that allow you to see what you are towing from every possible angle at any time you desire. However, that is just the beginning. The Trailer Length Indicator makes changing lanes with a big trailer safe and easy, while the Jack-Knife alert tracks the position of the trailer in relation to the truck and provides a warning if it senses imminent danger.

  • Design

The Chevy Silverado HD lineup is quite impressive and spans a variety of bed lengths, body styles, features, and options. From your basic work truck with an easy-clean interior to climate-controlled seats and luxurious leather, there is a Chevy Silverado 2500 HD built just for you. The massive four-door crew cab is the most versatile option, but there are also the regular cab and extended cab options. But with a large truck comes the problem of getting into the cab. However, this is not a problem with the Silverado as Chevy made it easier by adding integrated bumper steps and offering fold-out power running boards.

    Interior

The interior of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD ranges from a workhorse truck with basic features to a fancy crew cab decked out with all of the features, options, and technology that would impress even the staunchest critics. The crew cab seats six comfortably and has ample head, shoulder, and legroom both in the front seats as well as in the back seats. The seats are super wide and can be adjusted electronically with available two-person memory settings. The dashboard is well-designed without looking too busy.

Upgraded seat options include a front 40/20/40 split-bench with a covered armrest storage area and under-seat storage that can be locked. Last year’s model only offered the front 40/20/40 split-bench with no storage. The crew cab and double cab models offer bucket seats with a center console.

    Technology

As far as technology is concerned, the Silverado now features two USB ports on the instrument panel, making it easy to charge multiple devices. SiriusXM is standard on the LT trim but an option for the Work Truck trim. Last year, it wasn’t even an option for the Work Truck trim. Most impressive is the 15 camera-view surround vision system that is optimized for towing. This system makes solo-hitching a trailer easy, allows you to check all of your blind spots, and even allows you to monitor the inside of your trailer with the optional trailer camera.

  • Special Editions

A black 2021 Chevy Silverado 2500 Carhartt Edition is parked in an open metal building on a farm.

It is a long-standing tradition that Chevy offers a variety of special editions in order to meet the needs of its customers. This has not changed with the 2021 Chevy Silverado HD lineup. There are four unique versions from which to choose. The Z71 Chrome Sports Edition is available on the LT and LTZ trims and offers a body-color bumper and grille bar complete with chrome accents. You also enjoy 20-inch machined aluminum wheels with metallic accents.

The Z71 Sport Edition offers a more subdued look with color-matched bumpers and black door handles. You can also choose from exclusive colors, including Northsky Blue, Summer White, or Red Hot. Special badging is included on the hood vent, mirror caps, and skid plates. The Midnight Edition is available on the black LT and LTZ trims and offers a blacked-out appearance that is both aggressive and intimidating. The black elements include the grille inserts, grille bar, and skid plate, a truly midnight look from bumper to bumper.

    Carhartt Edition

Lastly, the Carhartt Special Edition is offered exclusively on the LTZ trim and features two-tone Carhartt Brown and Jet Black perforated front and rear leather seating with unique stitching. There are also all-weather floor liners complete with the Carhartt bade emblem. Words do little justice as the look is simply amazing. On the outside, the Carhartt Special Edition Silverado is Mosaic Black with pin-striping and Carhartt badging on the tailgate and doors. The rollup tonneau with the Carhartt badge completes the motif. The overall presence is quite stylish, unique, and distinctive.

    Packages

There are also several available packages to enhance the 2021 Silverado 2500 HD. These include the Safety Essentials Package, which features the Driver Information Center, Automatic Emergency Braking, Forward Collision Alert, and Steering Wheel Audio Controls. The LTZ Premium Texas Edition offers safety packages that include Forward Collision Alert, Front and Rear Park Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, and Lane Departure Warning, among several others. The Silverado 2500 HD is also available with blind-spot monitoring, ensuring safe lane changes.
