While the engine is important in any vehicle, it is especially important when looking at something like a large SUV. You want to be sure you get an engine powerful enough to make driving it a lot of fun. Fortunately, the 2021 Chevy Suburban comes through with three fantastic engines for you to choose from.
The standard engine on the Suburban is a 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 with dynamic fuel management, which provides up to 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. There is also an available 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 engine that also has dynamic fuel management, which delivers up to 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. These are both excellent options that make the Suburban a lot of fun to drive and they are great choices for a standard gas engine.
There is also a third engine option for the 2021 Suburban, which was not available before. This is a Duramax 3.0L Turbo Diesel engine that delivers up to 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque. With this engine, you can enjoy a fantastic combination of great fuel economy and powerful torque to get you where you need to go. All three engines come paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission; no matter which one you choose, your Suburban will be responsive and incredibly fun to drive.
Six trim levels are available for the 2021 Chevy Suburban, which is double what was previously available on this vehicle. The inside of the 2021 Chevy Suburban is larger than ever before, in part due to the fact that the Suburban is overall longer than previous models and due to changes in design. The addition of an independent rear suspension has allowed the floor of the Suburban to be lowered to offer more room inside, particularly for your passengers behind the front seat. This has resulted in much more interior space for cargo throughout the interior of the Suburban.
To get a sense of how much more room you now get inside, let us take a moment to look at last year’s model. The 2020 Chevy Suburban is still a fantastic vehicle with a lot to offer, though it is a bit smaller than the 2021 model. In the 2020 Suburban, you get about 39 cu.ft. of space behind the third row of seats, with about 76 cu.ft. of volume behind the second row, and a total of about 121 cu.ft. of cargo area behind the front row of seats. This is a great deal of room, which you would expect from such a large and sophisticated SUV.
With the 2021 Chevy Suburban, however, you simply get more room inside the vehicle, throughout all parts of the SUV. The 2021 model gives you more than 41 cu.ft. of interior cargo space behind the third row of seats, with more than 93 cu.ft. of space behind the second row, and more than 144 cu.ft. of total cargo area behind the front row of seats. As you can see, this is significantly more room behind the second and front rows of seats, giving you a lot more space overall. So whether you need room for going grocery shopping, have kids that bring a lot of supplies and equipment along, or you like to spend your free time going camping or tailgating, the Suburban gives you the room you need to bring everything with you.
