Chevy Silverado 1500

The Chevy Silverado 1500 is a full-size pickup truck perfect for any adventure. This versatile truck offers plenty of configurations, options, and several powertrain choices as well. This just means that no matter what, you’ll be getting a Silverado that fits your lifestyle like a glove. Whether you will be using your Silverado for recreation, work, or everyday use, it will give you years of faithful and reliable service. But choosing the right Silverado 1500 isn’t going to be an easy task, especially considering the choices available for the model. Dan Cummins Chevrolet Buick of Georgetown, your local Lexington Chevy Silverado dealer, is here to help with all of your questions concerning the 2021 model.

What Is New for the 2021 Chevy Silverado?

The Silverado upped its game with one very exciting feature: the Multi-Flex Tailgate. For a few years, truck manufacturers have been working to create a tailgate that has more than one function. The Ram 1500 was one of the first to create a multifunction tailgate along with the GMC Sierra 1500. This new feature changed the game for those who needed something more out of their truck bed and are becoming a staple at construction sites and tailgate parties.

While Ram was one of the first to create a multi-use tailgate, it has only three variations, making GM’s system the superior choice for drivers looking to make the most out of their truck bed. The Multi-Flex Tailgate is a modern engineering masterpiece that can be configured and folded in six different positions depending on the preferred use. Owners of the Silverado can use the tailgate as a makeshift bed step, a workbench, a tailgate load stop, and more.

While it is big news, the addition of the Multi-Flex Tailgate isn’t the only new feature for the 2021 Silverado. The latest version of the Silverado also includes several towing features, including a new cargo bed view, a jack-knife alert, and improved towing capacities. Thanks to these additions, towing with a Chevy Silverado has never been easier or safer.

Lastly, the Chevy infotainment system in the Silverado now includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with wireless connection standard across all trims. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are lifelines that integrate your smartphone with the infotainment system. These two systems will allow you to access many features found on your smartphone almost seamlessly through your infotainment center. You are now able to utilize voice commands to play music, check text messages, and make phone calls; you can even access some of your favorite apps without having to take your eyes off of the road or your hands off of the steering wheel.

Which Engines Are Available?

Chevy allows you to equip your Silverado with one of six engines. While some engine options will only be available depending on the trim, no matter what, you are destined to get something incredible.

Your engine options are as follows:

  • 2.7L Turbocharged I-4
Produces 310 hp and 348 lb-ft of torque
  • 4.3L EcoTec3 V6
Produces 285 hp and 305 lb-ft of torque
  • 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 AFM
Produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque
  • 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 DFM
Produces 355 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque
  • 6.2L EcoTec3 V8 3.0L
Produces 420 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque
  • Duramax Turbo-Diesel I-6
Produces 277 hp and 460 lb-ft of torque

Which Trim Is Best?

The answer to this question is going to depend on what exactly you want to get out of your truck. One of the reasons why the Chevy Silverado remains one of the best-selling trucks year after year is because Chevy does a wonderful job offering diverse trim levels. If you are looking for a value trim, you get the biggest bang for your buck choosing the WT. Even though it is the base model, you still get a quality truck with plenty of desirable features, including a seven-inch color touchscreen, a rear vision camera, and Bluetooth capability.

LTZ

If you are shooting for the moon and want a truck that is as luxurious as it is tough and dependable, you really can’t go wrong with the LTZ trim. The Silverado LTZ is up to any challenge you throw at it, it gets the job done, and it gets it done while you enjoy the comfort and conveniences that Chevy has to offer.

At its heart, the Chevy Silverado is a work truck, so even with a luxury model, you will still get the features you need to ensure that the truck can complete the task at hand. As such, the LTZ trim can include an advanced trailering system with a bed view camera and two trailer view camera provisions. These features ensure your Silverado is ready to complete everyday challenges.

The comfort and convenience features in the LTZ trim will have you thinking you are driving a luxury sedan. Slide behind the wheel of a Chevy Silverado LTZ and feel the quality of the heated and ventilated leather-appointed seats and the option of adding an 8-inch infotainment system with navigation. There are also plenty of safety features in this model including, front and rear park assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane change alert.

High Country

The High Country trim is where performance meets functionality and is considered the pinnacle of the Silverado lineup. Whatever you like in a truck is probably available at this trim level. On the exterior, you get 20-inch painted aluminum machined-face wheels, a dual-outlet exhaust, body-color bumpers, and six-inch chrome rectangular wheel to wheel assist steps.

Inside the Silverado High Country, you get to enjoy an eight-inch digital driver information center, a Bose premium sound system, leather-trimmed perforated seats, and wireless device charging. A few other goodies you get at this trim level include a connected navigation system, spray-on bed liner, and chrome recovery hooks.

So which high-level trim is right for you? Well, that depends on which features are most important to you. But we will say this; no matter which premium trim you choose, there isn’t a wrong choice.
